Bratislava, Slovakia

Slide1

Bratislava is the largest city and the capital of Slovakia. The locals here speak three languages – Slovak, Hungarian and German. Accordingly, it is one of the best cities for freelancers due to fast internet and low taxes.

Why should one visit Bratislava? The website, http://www.visitbratislava.com says that “because it’s all here. History, architecture, tradition, culture, art, drinks, food and nightlife.” The website further boasts that Bratislava is “The city where you find real life.”

Bratislava doesn’t provoke admiring swoons; it intrigues. In the midst of Slovakia’s capital, a flying saucer hovers above forest-fringed riverbanks. Its castle presides over a pastel-hued old town, but a concrete jungle looms behind. Despite the march of modernism, Bratislava is green. It banks the Danube River, by the Austrian border, and its hilly parks are threaded with hiking and biking trails. The Male Karpaty (Small Carpathians) roll north, with vineyards in their lowlands.” – http://www.lonelyplanet.com

PS. In the postcard, one can see the Danude River, the historic old old town and the Bratislava Castle.
